Team Elite | Ryan Leone
Hi! My name is Ryan Leone and this will be my 5th season racing triathlons. I’ve always had an interest in fitness and exercise, but it wasn’t until 2010 that a fellow Army Reservist introduced me to give triathlon a shot. I had never swum competitively, did not own a bike, and had just run what was required for Army training. But after only a handful of training sessions, I was hooked.
I’ve raced everything from Sprint to Iron distance triathlons and have fallen in love with the Olympic distance. My best performance was in the 2014 Greater Cleveland Triathlon, where I won my age group and placed 13th overall. However, the best race experience I have had would have to be completion of the Iron distance Full Rev Cedar Point. Personally, I enjoy the run leg the most. It is my strength and I feel ‘in my element’ when I’m pounding the pavement. If I can see you ahead of me, trust you’re not safe!
I joined Team Elite Toledo for several reasons. One, I have great trust that our coach and sponsor, Alisha Bruhl, will be monumental in helping me to achieve my future goals. But also, the mission of the team is to create an active and engaged community. I am excited to get involved in the community and help to create a healthier Toledo!
Aside from triathlon, I am a Registered Dietitian and hold a dual Masters degree in Food & Nutrition and Kinesiology. I am set to begin my doctoral studies in exercise science at the University of Toledo in the fall. I live and train with my unconditionally loving and supportive wife Mia and our dogs Brady and Bella.
